Style - Restorative, Yin | Difficulty - Beginner | Intensity - 1 | Duration - 44.40 | Props - Block, Strap, Bolster
Restorative Yoga is all about slowing down and creating relaxation in the body through passive stretching, mindful breathing and an acceptance to the practice.
Poses are held anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes long and time is used as a powerful tool to create more space in the body through surrendering. Props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body in poses to increase your ability to soften and relax. Physically, this is one of the best ways to increase the health and mobility of your joints, building a higher range of motion in your body. Mentally, it has very similar qualities to meditation and can help you learn to be still and content without the need for any external stimulus, which in my opinion, is a very important quality in life.
Be ready to slow down but don't beat yourself up if your mind doesn't want to. The first step in any meditative practise is about observing the fluctuations and distractions in the mind and just being aware of them, rather than trying to force stillness upon yourself.
